BESTFEST is a mountainbike festival and it has a theme, “Ride for Fun”. Bestfest is about free and easy wandering through the hilly, rocky trails. Bounding like a deer up the exposed roots, and negotiating the rocky descents. Bestfest is about taking joy in your strength and fitness and health. Bestfest is about community, our riding buddies, the people we meet on the trail and in the parking lot. I wouldn’t go riding at night, in the winter, alone. I need at least one other person to share the adventure. Then I’m good to go. I believe you feel the same.
There is a darkside to Bestfest. My friend Jim Best caught MS, a degenerative disease that attacks the myelin sheath of the nerves. It causes loss of balance and strength, as well as vision problems. I called some friends together to do a group ride with him last year and about 150 of his closest friends showed up. We had a great time. Shared some food and some stories and we’re going to do it again this year.

It costs $ 8.00 admission to Buckwallow. Bestfest Is FREE.
